Dogs have always been my deepest passion. As a child, we always had at least two or three dogs in our house. Growing up, I learned to value and respect the gift of having a dog as a member of the family. Wherever I traveled, while other people were interested in the sights and sounds, I was interested in the different varieties of dogs. For the last 25 years I have been involved in rescue. Once I began to share my life with abandoned and abused dogs, I realized that for everything I gave to the dogs, they gave me back tenfold: respect, trust and unconditional love. Even so, it was not an easy process so, while using my own experience and intuition, I also began to research dog behavior. I read many, many books on dog behavior and training styles, and became a certified dog trainer/behaviorist.
Because I love dogs so much, I decided to devote myself to the pursuit of improving the canine-human bond. I believe in a wholistic approach – proper nutrition, physical and mental exercise, as well as love and mutual respect, are all important in having a dog as a member of your family and part of your life. My special interest is in working with behavior issues. I also offer assistance by consulting with potential owner before they get a dog. By understanding what the potential owner's lifestyle is like and what they want in their relationship with a dog, I can give guidance on choosing a breed or mixed breed that will suit their situation. Hopefully, this will lead to a positive arrangement for both dog and owner and prevent people from surrendering or destroying a dog that does not fit into their plans. Perhaps in working with people and their dogs, I can help make life better for everyone involved and allow others to experience what a human-dog relationship can be. My goal is to prevent as many dogs as I can from being mistreated, surrendered or destroyed.
We offer pet obedience training, puppy socialization, specialty classes, such as Canine Good Citizen, Rally and more, as well as one-on-one sessions.
